Cup of Len. Oblast for spinning fishing from boats 2019. Plyussa River.
Probably, this is the first competition, before the start of which, we already knew that most likely we would lose them tactically. The application is so-so, considering that the motto “The main thing is not victory, but …” is far from ours. Training was devoted to 4 days a few weeks before the start. Many interesting places were found (trees, snags, stones, submerged boats), but their catch brought almost zero exhaust, cat cries, no activity. There was only hope that in these few weeks something in the mainstream will change. But closer to the beginning of the competition, information came from trainings from various “jigovik crews” that things are still bad and there’s really nothing to hope for. But from the “crew-borshevikov” came more than bright news, the fish in the grass eat and eat. But we lost our “flexibility” back in 2016, when the jig swallowed us up without a trace. Therefore, there was no talk of grass, only the course, only jig. We decided to play at our points in the hope that a pair of decent riverbed pike would deign to have a bite to eat with our bait. But we understood that the risk is very big. Even too much. Athletes who are looking for victory at any cost, would not have done so. But we decided that if we win, how we want, and not as circumstances require. Call it a deliberate tactical mistake.
As agreed, they went to wool their work. Point by point, snag behind snag. Silence … As in training. There was hope for some kind of output, activity, but nothing. For half a day, two lost perch, tempted by pike bait.
Time passes, and we have not a single pike. In general, nothing surprising. We get up on the next koryazhnik, Roman makes a throw, bite and began to fight. The form clearly shows that the fish is the one that “solves all our problems”, but … The Koryazhnik was not on our side, the pike with a strong jerk went to where it was no longer possible to pull it out. Long time since it was not a shame. A couple of capacious words from the traditional Russian lexicon expressed what was in our hearts. But what to do, we work on. And then there was nothing interesting. Finish with two perches. 22 place.
Mentally they understood that the competition was over for us and now the fishing “for themselves” begins. But, to some extent, this is good, no psychological pressure, complete relaxation and the conversion of casts into pleasure.
We decided to dedicate all the time to several of the most promising points. One of them is the one where the above happened. A few hours of rinsing baits brings nothing. Fortunately, the weather is fabulous, calm, sun. At my next cast, I have the coveted “tuk”. Forced dodge and pike dvushku in our boat. Finally. I have not been so happy with a pike of this size for a long time. We continue to catch, nothing. So it's not an option, but a pity …
As it happens, when you don’t bite, we begin to touch the bait. I put black foam rubber, I make a throw, bite. Obviously scoring pike managed to hang five seconds and a gathering. Rearranged. 15 minutes to go. Again, foam rubber, again cast. Pulling off the edge, bite, gathering. In the distance we see (and hear))) the crew of the future winners (Seregin-Burin), they have fish in the grass. We understand that the pike began to exit, but the time is already pressing out that it’s time to go to the finish line. Our only pike brings us 6th place on the second day and 15th place final. As expected, the first half of the table was taken by those who fished in the grass.
It happens in the sport that "no luck." In football, this is a bar, in hockey, this is an unintentional removal, in fishing, it is a gathering, cliffs, etc. Each of us is faced with this from time to time. But rarely does "total bad luck," as they say, "not rushing." So it happened with us: annoying gatherings, an obvious bigfish, problems with the motor (lost hour), more than half a hundred detached baits in two days. But it was very interesting and useful.
Words of gratitude.
Thanks to Evgeny Kichev for an excellent organization; the judicial team for fair and strict refereeing (for the first time refereeing was as it should be); Sergey Zakharov for the photos; TM Sprut for the support of our crew. And the winners with a well-deserved victory! With such a perch can not win! )
