Search for zander at the mouth of Kama

Search for zander at the mouth of KamaDespite the calendar autumn and very low water levels, the Kuibyshev reservoir lives according to the summer schedule. In any case, at the mouth of the Kama, the water temperature is 21 degrees, the water is green from algae, the sun bakes during the day. The fish adapted to the recent discharge of water and again scattered over extensive shallow watering. Fishing has not been asked from the very beginning. In the morning I had to call into the garage to pick up forgotten boots, wanderers, then a car got naughty with a friend, and as a result we were late for the hour by the shore. There are two dozen cars on the beach, in front of a multi-kilometer water mirror is the mouth of the Kama. Going fishing, we immediately decided to go to great water for zander. The pike season is in full swing, the pike is hungry and complaisant. You can catch it a lot, because its fishing is uninteresting. We need zander or perch!

We are going to check the points at which we caught a good pike perch a week ago. Almost complete calm allows you to move on an inflatable boat at maximum speed. The navigator produces almost 40 km / h. The nearest point is about 8 km. At the Makarov lighthouse, exactly where the Mesha channel connects with Kama, there are a dozen boats tightly standing. Probably found a zander. Fishing in such a team will not bring pleasure, we skip on. At the next point we see one boat. It is right. There is a deep hole in this place on the Kama riverbed, and a large pocket has formed on its dump. At the exit from it, the edge goes in steps, the flow is difficult to change, forming a kind of comb on the bottom.

Three or four boats can stand at this point without interfering with each other, but only one can stand absolutely right. The boat must be placed at the top of the dump, at a depth of 7 meters, almost right next to the sharp dump of a pocket with almost thirty-meter depth. Fishing is carried out upstream: the bait is thrown into the pit and then rises up a stepped brow. The lateral flow, perpendicular to the channel, allows you to catch the entire bottom of the dump, where the zander is usually held. You can throw it into the channel: the bait is pressed by a powerful current to the lower edge, where the toothfish is also often found.

Today the right point is busy. We stand nearby, at a distance of casting. We begin to methodically punch the bottom of the main dump, moving through the stream with each dozen castings. Despite the quite tolerable craving, the pike perch is silent. Not much success is seen in the neighboring boat. There are no fish, not counting the three hundred gram nerds, which we shake off at the boat. We must look further. The next perspective point is located 12 km, almost at the Volga-Kama reserve. She helped us more than once in besklevy. We drive, crossing many kilometers of shallow areas. The fishfinder contains a lot of white fish, a lot of it in the nets sorted by poachers from the local population. It is understandable: in such warm summer water, the fish tries to eat as intensively as possible in order to stock up on fat before the coming winter.

Along the way, we make several stops, we break through in the search for perch or pike perch small pits and grooves. There is no result, sometimes only the sopa and scavenger are crumpled. We go to the point with an accuracy of a meter. Below us is a sharp channel dump from five to twenty meters. A little higher in the channel there is a small deep-water spit at the bottom of the dump. On it, the zander last time was caught from each cast. We throw upstream. The draft is weak lateral, pressing the bait to the edge. A load of 36 g clearly beats the bottom, you can comfortably fish at 28 g, but then it will take almost a minute to wait for the bait to fall to the bottom. A few inarticulate pike perches at the bottom of the dump, from the upper edge we catch a couple of kilogram squint. Pike bites are sharp and aggressive. The fish briskly resists, goes to the candle. I deliberately give the slack of the thread, and the fish safely spits out the double. A friend also lets his puppy grow up.

We move again, change the bait, experiment with the wiring. The result is not happy. Toward noon we meet two boats with familiar fishermen. We stop to exchange a few words. The crew of one boat caught a good pike in the morning: in the cage there are good heels, three kilograms each. Others did not see a single bite, rode around – searched for asp and schooling perch. We have lunch together, drink tea. It would be hot to swim, but the surface of the water is bright green from a huge number of microscopic algae. There is a great temptation to go to the ditches to the Semenov Islands and make a result on pike. The comrade handed over the coordinates of the point where for several days she was caught from him simply in unlimited quantities. But no, we do not need pikes, we will look for zander.

We decide to return to the morning point. After 40 minutes we are there. There are no other boats. Carefully expose the boat, referring to the echo sounder and navigator. On the steps of the dump are the fish symbols at the bottom – zander! The cartoon buzzes quietly on cast, a long wait for the load to fall into the pit. A step, a second – and a clear sharp blow is transmitted by the braid to the fingers, a pleasant live weight bends the form. The first commodity zander in the boat!

Pike perch is caught on each cast: two or three hits per wiring from the bottom of the dump or hangs on the rise along the comb. A lot of gatherings, but still fun. The comrade noticeably lags behind, swears at the constantly tearing braid. The much-praised expensive (two thousand rubles for a 150-meter unwinding) Japanese Super PE thread, soft and smooth, like a monofilament, wears out instantly upon contact with a shell rock on the edge and, after three or four wires, breaks with a little effort on the edges of the edge. But the good old 30-liter Power Pro on my multiplier allows you to unbend even the Ovener double on the hook, and it costs three times cheaper.

The exit of the pike perch is fleeting: in an hour the bites become many times less, there are a lot of empty pokes, percussions. The fish simply hits the bait without opening its mouth. We move a couple of times, trying from different positions to find the active zander left in the “tasty” place. But the excitement has already subsided. In the summer, a warm autumn day is drawing to a close. Kama is completely calm, the mirror surface of water for many tens of kilometers. The ship passage is very close, music is heard from passing tourist ships. Suddenly, a hefty somara, the owner of the pit, turns out at the very boat. A wide back and a huge tail shovel are twice shown out of the water. “It seems that the centner will be weight!” Says a friend nervously. Quickly remove the catch with the kukan in the bag. It has happened, and more than once, that catfish come to the boat, attracted by the stirring of fish on a kukan. Swallow the catch and rip off the fish from the fasteners, while the boat may roll over.

It's time to go ashore. Evening exit of pike perch may not take place, and fatigue makes itself felt. On fishing, you can draw several conclusions. The fish lives in shallow water, to find it in such a large space is a pure lottery. Pike perch gathers in autumn flocks, tied to channel eyebrows only during the day, and the rest of the time it hunts in shallow water. It is necessary to wait for real cooling of water to at least 16 degrees. Fish must be sought, only a constant search gives a positive result.
