MEETING WINTER WITH SPRUT Baits

The calendar winter in St. Petersburg is coming to an end before it really starts. Of course, the introduction of a ban on ice access until January 15 was encouraging that winter fishing in the reservoirs of the Leningrad Region would nevertheless take place. But the state of nature for the past three months, green grass on the lawns and open ponds have forced fishermen to seek some use for winter gear. For example, at the end of November, in one of the parks in St. Petersburg, a local fisherman adapted smelt fishing rods for catching coastal rotan into pieces of chicken. And the way he dexterously and quickly settled down, it was evident that he was catching it not the first time.

By the way, in those days I also brought along a lightweight collapsible winter fishing rod and Sprut novelties in order to look at their game in the nearest pond and maybe even convince a large pond ratan that it was edible. SPRUT novelties were provided by the organizers of the “SPRUT WINTER-3” contest for the purpose of testing them in winter conditions. The lures seemed interesting to me for catching the main river predators: perch, pike, bersh and zander. In previous winter seasons, Sprut fishing line proved to be good for me when catching the Kama bersh, winter rainbow trout, and okash on the lakes. Durable on knots, resistant to abrasion, with fluorocarbon coating and noticeable on snow-white snow. So this time I chose for testing the fishing line SPRUT SKYLINE OXIDE ICE TECH PRO 3D with a diameter of 0.255 mm, a 30 meter unwind, which was just enough to equip one reliable fishing rod for depths of 15-20 meters with a small margin. The 3D concept of fishing line coverage is now the trend of iridescent fishing line. I don’t know how much this contributes to successful fishing, time will tell, but the fact that such fishing lines are disassembled in stores faster is a fact.

Of the lures, I liked the new SPRUT NORDEDGE TUKAN # 6.5 spinner, 6.5 cm long and 11 grams. The curved shape of the baubles is familiar to lovers of pike perch and bersh fishing and has shown itself well in various Russian fisheries. Fifteen color options “hook” any sophisticated angler, except that there is not enough light-accumulating colors, so beloved Kama bersh.

I consciously chose the balancer SPRUT KANORI DUAL # 5. I liked this double fry even last season when fishing for bersh, the weight of the bait is 10 grams and the size 55 mm is quite consistent with the conditions of fishing, and the color is generally unique. A sharp tee with a drop, noticeable to fish and durable when fighting.

This short walk in the park did not bring any catch, although there were loots. Probably the rattan was small or they didn’t attack, but simply “buttered”. Even the little SPRUT PORTER 28 in golden color on a thin fishing line of 0.105 mm did not seduce this time a small rotan. Although last winter on ice, they eagerly responded to a sluggish game similar to a lure.

In general, I was glad to receive these new Sprut products, bearing in mind the upcoming trip for the real winter to the Volga and Kama.

The Volga region is famous not only for its abundance of various fish, but in Kazan it is aesthetically pleasing to simply walk along the streets.

They will not leave hungry here either.

And in front of me there were several interesting fishing trips in the vast Kuybyshevsky reservoir in the company of positive local fishermen, who, despite the frost, wind and peculiarities of regulation of the reservoir, enjoy their favorite pastime of fishing. And I was hoping for successful fishing for new items from Sprut.

I wish all optimists neither a tail nor scales!
