Fishing for mormyshka with and without a nozzle

Fishing for mormyshka with and without a nozzle

Mormyshka with a nozzle

The catch of mormyshka largely depends on the extent to which its parameters are related to the nozzle – volumetric or small. Volumetric nozzles, in my opinion, include earthworms and dung worms, leeches, dragonfly larvae, large maggots, bark beetles, bunches of bloodworms. When catching a large bream, for example, it is advisable to attach a bundle of bloodworms to the hook of the mormyshka. Accordingly, a sufficiently heavy mormyshka will be required to quickly deliver the bait to a depth of 7-8 m. But when fishing small and medium-sized roaches, both mormyshki and smaller baits are needed, that is, small. In this case, it is better to attach fodder bloodworms, burdock moth larvae, slightly fried hemp seeds, etc. to the hook.

I will not be mistaken if I say that all fishermen-jugmen began to catch with a nozzle. By and large, of course, the whole point is in the movements of the mormyshka that it produces during the game. And it depends on the shape, weight of the bait and, of course, on what kind of nozzle you offer to fish. There is one more nuance … Somehow, on the first ice on one of the bays of the Ivankovo reservoir, I watched through the hole the behavior of the perch flock. The depth in this place was a little more than a meter, and “minke whales” were clearly visible against the background of a light sandy bottom. Some of them were located at the bottom, others – in half the water, others – literally touched the lower edge of the hole with thorns.

After the mormyshka reached the bottom, 2-3 perches immediately appeared near it, who looked at it with obvious curiosity, but did not dare to attack. Having changed several long-tested perch mormysheks and offering either bloodworms, maggots, or the larva of burdock moths, I still did not succeed. However, the next morning, on the way, I decided to turn into old holes. And what would you think? For about an hour, the perch pecked like crazy on the same yesterday's bait. Therefore, before making a verdict when testing a particular bait, you must be sure that you are dealing with a relatively active fish. The above example once again suggests that a saturated fish can completely ignore any, even the most attractive, bait.

Mormyshka without nozzle

I have been fishing from ice for a long time and came to the conclusion that almost any mormyshka can act as a non-nozzle. The only question is how attractive it is to a particular fish at a given time. However, I have to make a reservation and to begin with indicate what we mean when we talk about a non-muzzle jigsaw. The fact is that various beads, cambrices, wools or, for example, flavored silicone microbait, in my opinion, should be considered as imitations of living organisms. Consequently, the mormysh “decorated” by them cannot be called non-nozzle. Practice has established that roach, for example, prefers a combination of cambric or beads of black, white and orange, perch – red, black, yellow. Obviously, there is a connection with the coloring of fodder objects.

Mormyshki are better suited for fishing without a nozzle, located at an angle of about 45 degrees to the fishing line. But if you put on a hook a volumetric artificial nozzle, this angle will be larger. Accordingly, the nature of the game will change such a bait. It also happens that the fish takes exclusively from the bottom. In such a situation, you will need a mormyshka sitting at an angle of 90 degrees to the fishing line. But such mormyshki as "little devil", "goat", "witch", hanging down with a hook, are not intended for fishing from the bottom. They are effective only when working in the water column. If, when fishing with a nozzle, the fish often takes it to the “stanchion”, then in the case of a non-attachable mormyshka this number does not work. Yes, it would never occur to anyone, having put such a decoy to the bottom, patiently wait for a bite. For the essence of non-fishing fishing is in movement, or rather, in a more or less accurate imitation of the movements of a particular feed object.

In general, it must be said that the most important component of non-fishing fishing is the number of bait vibrations per minute. Different sources give different numbers: from 200 to 300 fluctuations and even more. However, in my opinion, all this is very conditional. Formed flattened from above and below, for example, raises a cloud of turbidity, working in the immediate vicinity of the muddy bottom. Some living creatures are busy either giving or taking. And the fish cannot resist. The same applies to mormyshka type "uralki", in which they cut down the upper part, making a "scaffold." Some mormyshki give a quiet game, others require quick wiring, others with their movements resemble miniature baubles. A special place in the series of non-nozzle mormysheks is occupied by “little devils”. I would like to say more about this bait.

Every spring, on the last ice, I like to run along the old holes, hunting mainly for the bream. And here without the “devil” as without hands. In the classic version, this is a drop-shaped or cone-shaped bait equipped with a tee that joins the body of the mormyshka stationary or articulated. Usually the length of the "devil" is 2-4 times its diameter. As a typical vertical mormyshka, the devil practically does not deviate from the vertical axis during the game. What does it attract fish to? And he attracts with its vibrational field, formed in the process of oscillation of the bait. The nature of microwaves can be diversified by equipping the “little devil” with sliding beads both on the forend of the hook and on the fishing line.

The hanging tee, according to many devils, also improves the game. The diameter of the bream "devil" is usually 3-5 mm with a length of 10-20 mm. In case catchers up to 200 g prevail in the catch, it is advisable to catch two small “little devils” on a “steam train”. True, this is fraught with the fact that there is no guarantee that one of them will not catch on the lower edge of the hole when playing, and then the fish will get off. As practice shows, when fishing for bream requires no more than 80-100 vibrations per minute. If the fish is passive due to a lack of oxygen in the water, 20-30 fluctuations with a small amplitude are enough.

When catching another fish, it is sometimes necessary to disperse the nod to 250-300 vibrations per minute. And this is only possible provided that you have a convenient fishing rod in your hands, and the weight of the “little devil” or other mormyshka corresponds to the elasticity of the nod. I use combined polycarbonate or metal nods for such fishing. Before fishing, the upper part of the nod should be stretched between the thumb and forefinger so that it is slightly bent up. In the working position, the nod is only slightly bent down. A weak bite is manifested in the form of a malfunction in the rhythm of the game, confident – in the inclination or raising of a nod.

A significant number of oscillations of the bait per minute is achieved by and large due to the special design of the cone-shaped nod. The pole works and creates an oscillation of the pole and the adjacent nod section. The top of the signaling device, although it oscillates with a high frequency, but due to the small amplitude practically remains in place. In this case, the tip of the nod during operation deviates from the horizontal axis by no more than 1 mm. For fishing on mormyshka without a nozzle, I usually use nods 10-15 cm long.

Commercially available so-called “tungsten” mormyshka are in great demand. However, baits made of heavy alloys are not always appropriate. Carp fish, for example, are scared away by lowering the bait too quickly to the bottom. Every real fisherman tries to fit into the situation on the next fishing trip. Based on this, he selects the suitable tackle and fishing technique. For it is one thing to catch bream in the water column and quite another to catch bleak. And the point is not that the bream is slow, and bleak is quick. Choose the right key to the fish – this is a manifestation of skill.
