Ultralight wobblers are perhaps the most difficult and not fully clarified ultralight issue. Problems arise, starting with the classification of lures, and end with their structural features: nose loops, winding rings, tees often need refinement or replacement, without which wobblers are not able to effectively fish. Many are unaware of this, so failures are attributed to bad biting. I would like to talk more about ultralight wobblers and the problems associated with fishing on them.
Limited weight (1-4 g), and, therefore, the carrying capacity of ultralight wobblers, leads to the fact that the difference in class is determined by the weight criterion of 0.5-1 g, i.e. you replace one winding ring with another, and the floating model turns into suspension, and vice versa, and the weight line between the suspension and the sinking wobbler can be only 0.3-0.5 g. Therefore, the transition of the wobbler from one type to another can occur at the discretion angler due to rearrangement of the clockwork rings (i.e. the angler does this intentionally). On the one hand, this, of course, is tempting, since the boundaries of the experimental capabilities of the angler are expanding sharply. But on the other hand, when buying many wobblers, such an operation becomes compelled, since models declared as suspensions often sink or stubbornly float, which does not always please the angler, since he was interested in buying the suspension rather than the sinking or floating model.
Moreover, many models of wobblers, declared as floating, immediately sink. The fisherman can either exchange the bait in the store, or change the rings and tees, thus returning the bait to its original declared weight and properties. Almost all firms – manufacturers that produce micro-wobblers – allow such flaws. Designations F – floating; S-g – suspending; S – sinking without elementary testing in a container with water, unfortunately, do not say anything. It’s good if the suspension turns out to be a slow-sinking wobbler, and much worse when the floating sinks quickly (in this case, it’s more difficult to choose accessories). Sometimes the weight of the wobbler coincides with the weight indicated on the package, but the bait still does not want to behave as it should in status.

Replacing rings and tees
Tees and rings are changed not only to change the type of wobbler, but because the quality of the tees leaves much to be desired, the hooks are frankly weak and certainly not designed to catch large fish. The maximum that they are capable of is to keep fish weighing 1.5-1.7 kg. Then the hook extends and the angler remains “with his nose”. It seems that they were not originally designed to capture a larger predator and that at the decisive moment the contractions were programmed to unbend. Which is not surprising, since the vast majority of small-sized wobblers are intended for fishing trout and other medium-sized river fish.
Knowing this, and going to catch large fish, it is better to replace the hooks of the lures immediately after purchase with more powerful ones. This, of course, will lead to a change in the weight proportions of the bait, which, however, will not affect its overall balancing. After replacing the tees with more powerful ones, the same thing happens as when replacing the rings: the wobbler loses buoyancy, moving to the next class. Rings and tees are replaced at the same time to maintain balance. One crown and one tee are replaced quite rarely, for the same reason.
Lapping the nasal loop
Some wobbler models when wiring not only had serious flaws in the game, but clearly needed to be improved by adjusting the nose blade. It is impossible to explain in detail all the subtleties of this case, I can only say that the adjustment of the slope is carried out not only to the right – to the left, but also up and down. The angle of inclination of each loop is strictly individual. After that, these wobblers became one of the most catchy in my collection. Nevertheless, I want to say that this is a rather delicate matter and, despite the apparent simplicity of the operation, not everyone can do it, since a great experience and personal skill of the fisherman are needed in this matter.
The bend of the profile of the blade (rudder)
Unfortunately, there is also a more serious drawback: with the external conformity of the form – the complete absence of the game, which, in fact, is a factory marriage. If the game cannot be improved by adjusting the nose loop, then the apparent reluctance of the wobbler to move as it should initially (in comparison with models of the same row having a stable game) is eliminated by changing the angle of inclination of the nose blade, which is preheated on a gas burner or lighter. Yo-Zori wobblers are one of the best in the price – quality range and perfectly fish under almost all fishing conditions. If you are not an expert in eliminating such shortcomings and have little idea of how the bait should play and how to bend the blade properly, then you can safely talk about wasted money. Although in any case, messing around with branded lures, paying a decent amount for them, is somehow illogical. There are other subtleties and weak links in the design of baits, but first things first.
A seam on the steering wheel (blades) in light small-sized wobblers is not so rare, which, of course, leads to a clear deterioration in the game. But in practice, the main problem is associated not only with the suture area, but also with the consequences of its elimination by the manufacturer. The company eliminates the defect (technological deviation when pressing the blade) by machining by grinding the protruding part of the surface. As a rule, this leads to a change in the angle of inclination and to the fact that the wobbler loses its playing qualities. This is not surprising, since after changing the geometry of the profile of the blade, its hydrodynamic resistance during wiring will also change. Despite the fact that a specialist is sometimes able to give the blades the desired angle, I would not advise anyone to do this, it is better to detect defects when buying, especially since they are quite rare.
I think it’s not worth saying that a small-sized wobbler that has deviations in parameters among models of the same series or according to the catalog will have obvious malfunctions in the game during posting and it is unlikely to be interesting for fish. As the long-term practice of fishing for light baits has shown, almost any lure ignored by a predator, upon closer examination, will have slight differences from the standard (catalog of the manufacturer).
