What I like about fishing is its diversity. I’m personally interested in catching different fish. Predatory or peaceful, almost all the same, the main thing is to be exciting, well, it would be nice to be bigger.
In this connection, at my place a rather decent arsenal was formed of all kinds of fishing gear (boat, motor, quack, spinners, mugs, girders, floats, feeders, and so on), but I’m not talking about it now.
This season I wanted, so to speak, to get new impressions from fishing. Once I was looking at pictures of some of my friends, and realized that I wanted to catch carp. It is no secret that in our region it is easiest to bite this powerful fish in a paid reservoir, to visit one of which I hastened to decide.
The first attempts began in May. But three fishing in a row I could not achieve the desired result. Which, by the way, even more excited my carp appetite. Of course, zero achievements should also be treated with gratitude, and I tried not to be particularly upset. Indeed, it is such an outcome that charges with a real incentive, makes you think, develop and confidently follow the intended goal.
At the time when I caught my first carp, I already knew for sure that I was doing everything relatively correctly. Not so that in a couple of hours to fill up a dozen hefty fish, I simply do not need them in such quantity, but to precisely catch one, well, maybe two or three specimens.
Once again, I note that I did not delve into carp fishing fully. That is, I didn’t get any special rods, reels, strawberry attractants and comfortable chairs, and I’m probably not going to. It was just interesting for me to catch this beautiful fish, preferably in a simple, ordinary way.
For example, on a float. Although at first it looked a little dangerous, and quite logical questions continually arose in my head. Does it bite at all? If it bites, will my lap stand the fight with this fish? Will the fishing line fail at that very moment? What if the hook breaks? Will a hefty carp take me to the pond?
But to catch carp on a four-meter Maximus Sorcerer turned out to be the most pleasant thing. The tested Sprut Skyline Evo Tech Pro fishing line with a diameter of 16.5mm and the Sprut Ito B-72 BC hooks, of course, did not fail either. Perhaps these were the best fish fishes in my practice. No hurry for you, no jitters for the result (it will do that). Just a fishing rod in an arc, a tight fishing line, a crack of a clutch and jerks of a strong fighter.
Catching carp on a delicate float rod, of course, is reckless and very cool. But still, it turned out to be more productive for me to do this on bottom tackle with a feeder. Yes, emotions are not the same when fighting, as this implies a more powerful weapon, but the chance of a bite is significantly increased.
There is one more point that I would like to point out in this amateurish floater-feeder report. It is very convenient and curious to fish with children on the platformer, at least to me while hunting for carp.
The first half hour of fishing, they are in a wild anticipation: responsibly monitor the float and respond to any bell sound. Then the fuse begins to slowly fade away, the corn begins to eat up and rush into the water. Full children's boredom comes after an hour of fishing. Here, in addition to gadgets, reproachful words are used in the address of dad: “Look, they have caught, but we are not!” If two hours have passed and the fish have not been caught, the phrase “Let's go home!” Is heard from a five-minute periodicity.
But then the float finally begins to give out passionate convulsions and after a second or two rushes under the water. The cut! And yes, this is the coolest moment. The youngest or eldest daughter is already with a nap in her hands. The cheerful children’s hubbub grows and does not stop until the end of fishing …
