Reports from Water: Yeysk Spit

"Hot corn, cold beer, stockfish, churchkhela, pomegranates, crossbows, knives, pistols, sweet rolls, rifles, Chinese sneakers …"

The path to the sea was a long and difficult one, but we overcame it and now enjoy our vacation. As a place for beach relaxation, my family and I chose the city of Yeysk, which is located on the coast of the Sea of Azov in the Krasnodar Territory.

The coastline of the resort town is washed by the Taganrog Bay and the Yeisk estuary of the Sea of Azov. Sandy and small shell beaches. The depth in the bathing places is small, the water is warm, you can flounder in the sea for hours, which, in fact, was ideal for us to relax with children. It was not difficult to find housing, it was worth just dialing the first number from the corresponding announcement. We were rather quickly accommodated according to our whims and opportunities.

Preparing for the holidays, I, of course, paid attention to finding information about my favorite hobby. It turned out that everything was in order with fishing at the resort, and a small set of fishing gear went on a trip with me.

The very next day after my arrival, I went with a fishing rod for reconnaissance at the end of the Yeisk Spit. From a distance, it became clear to me that this location is very popular among fishing enthusiasts. And the closer I came, the more clearly I saw hundreds of rods randomly rising and falling among the stones. In some places the fish glittered. Yes, the one that I really wanted to catch!

It is believed that the spit, which I was in such a hurry to share the Bay of Taganrog and the Yeisk estuary. There are many underwater currents, and in the place of fishing pretty good depth. All this attracts many underwater inhabitants, and, consequently, fishermen. Looking ahead, I’ll say that there were days when, due to the wrong wind direction, there was simply nowhere to squeeze in with my gear, and I had to fish in very uncomfortable conditions.

Finding a place more comfortable, I quickly equipped a fishing rod and threw a corn float on a hook in the sea. In less than thirty seconds, the float drowned. The cut turned out to be ineffective, but after a minute or two I was already holding my first ram in my life.

While I was fishing, of course, I watched other fishermen and their equipment. Fantasy equipping fishing gear knew no bounds. I will not describe them, but for myself, I decided that my next fishing, no matter how I like the float style, will occur on the donka with two hooks.

For several days in a row in the early morning hours, Julia and I went fishing for a scythe. As expected, the donka turned out to be an excellent tool for fishing rams. Sometimes she pecked just amazingly, sometimes badly, but without a catch and a charge of positive emotions, we did not return. This fish pecks very boldly.

In addition to ramming, which willingly consumed corn and a worm, we managed to catch other types of fish. For example, he took silver carp on a dung worm. By the way, I have not been able to deliberately catch crucian carp for a long time, and taking advantage of the situation, I was very pleased to wait for his careless bites at sea.

Sometimes gobies came across. Mostly small. To be honest, I expected from them a more confident cool. In this connection, I am slightly disappointed, as I planned to target them in large quantities. But, apparently, local gobies should be caught at another time of the year.

Julia was still hooked by a little lump, and I got a rudd and a scam. By the way, zander in the Sea of Azov is a year-round ban, and you can’t catch it at all. For fans of predator fishing, a sad fact. Also witnessed the trout somersault pelengas. The fishermen of Yeisk successfully catch Pelengas in the spring, in May, so that he did not respond to all our prayers and requests.

Vacation, as it should be, flies quickly and quietly. Rest, of course, was a success. But we know: the best, of course, is ahead!
