Stage 2 PAL – Sarapul, Kama River. Part 2

Continuation of training before stage 2 of the PAL, Kama River.

Sudak, this is probably the most stable fish that we caught almost every day. And all because this fish is easy to see on the sonar screen, flocks of pikeperch came across everywhere. Basically, they could be seen behind the dunes at the bottom, where 3-5 silhouettes were visible, while, interestingly, after the correct setting there was always a bite or capture, but only one fish. Very rarely managed to persuade 2 or 3 pike perch from a point.

The setting in this case should have been such that the bait was held along the dune or at a slight angle, while the wire across the ridges did not bring bites at all, and finding such a setting and making the right cast is quite difficult in a strong current.

Therefore, we did not consider fishing in the dunes as the main one, especially since the next day usually the pikeperch was no longer in this place.

But fishing by structures has become the main one for us, since Kama is simply replete with snags, blockages of branches and logs and other structures. The whole problem was that most of the places were in the area of the channel, and since the current was very strong this year, in many places it was possible to catch only with loads from 80 g.

Especially for this I took a spinning Slrods Lex 792XH up to 80 grams with Okuma Epixor reel. Catching on such a course had its own nuances, for example, I caught the Intech Exseed cord with a diameter of # 1.0 and # 1.2 almost all the time so that it would sail less in the water and a lighter weight could be used, although even under these conditions the weight of the load is rare was less than 40 gr.

The only problem was the size of the pike perch, mainly it was fish weighing about 1 kg. But some driftwood and blockages brought good specimens, there were not many such structures.

But on the baits, everything was interesting. For the most part, I worked with large 5-inch vibro-tails, Bait Breath T.T. Shad and Intech Slim Shad were the main lures.

So 5 or 6 days of training passed, on the one hand we were confident in the fish, on the other hand there were still days, and it was possible to find something better.

Fishing was a success !!!
