The standing reservoirs of my native Tula region are not too fishy. If somewhere roach and perch of 50-100 g absolutely do not deserve attention, then I am glad when I manage to catch such ones from the ice. River catches are more significant than pond catches, but the ice situation on the rivers does not always allow catching. In addition, during the course, the mammoth tackle often loses to passive fishing methods. And I prefer mormyshka – and I turn the ice of ponds, quarries and few reservoirs in my native places into a colander. The most difficult reservoirs for me were and remain careers. It is difficult to fish successfully, which is why it is especially interesting.
Here are a few holes drilled and verified. Despite all the tricks, they are silent. You begin to doubt: “Is there a fish here? Am I doing everything right? ” Such a situation in the quarry is common: fish can be caught only at certain points. And to find them, you have to drill a lot of holes. Moreover, winter fishing in quarries often does not lend itself to the usual logic, since reservoirs are artificial and the relationship of the distribution of fish with depths and topography is different than in reservoirs of natural origin.
Nowadays, deaf winter and fish are passive. It is necessary not only to find it, but also to somehow infuriate, force to peck. To do this, I drill a series of holes perpendicular to the shore and feed them with a small bloodworm using a miniature feeder, which I open just above the bottom. You can feed with your hands, but then the time of "ripening" of the hole will increase: the depth is large, and the small bloodworm drowns for a long time. From the marks previously applied with a waterproof marker on the fishing line fishing line, you can determine the depth in each hole. I refused bait mixtures at our ponds and quarries. Bait either does not work at all and even repels fish, or it works very late, and the winter day is short.
After the first and second passes through the holes, it becomes clear that he missed or got into the fish. Quickly begins to peck at winter parking and feeding places. If there are no bites, you have to drill and feed the second series of holes – and so on, until you find the fish. Roach can respond well to the smooth lowering or slow rise of mormyshka, often even no game is required. Perch responds better to high-frequency play. Many fishermen have repeatedly heard such allegations and made sure that in reality everything is not quite so, especially if the reservoir is not too fishy. Therefore, it is worth trying various options for animating mormyshka and, having achieved bites, reproduce the wiring on other holes. If the hole bites, you can feed with a pinch of bloodworms from your hand or open the feeder halfway. I think that it is better to feed from the hand: and more quickly, and the fish are less afraid. The appearance of bloodworms dipping in the water column activates apathetic winter fish, and the chances of success increase.
Once I participated in competitions in one of the Tula quarries, and there were so few fish that a catch of 300 g gave a chance to win in the zone. As is usually the case in competitions, I fed all the holes, and only every fifth worked, and even then not always. No more than fifteen minutes remained until the finish line, my catch was small, and I had to decide whether to drill new holes or check previously fed. Choosing the second option, I was not mistaken: a small bloodworm started a fish with its dance and I managed to catch several 50-60 grams of roach and perch, which allowed me to take a rather high place in the zone. In the second round, my affairs were worse: I caught only one perch – it seemed that defeat was inevitable. But, as in the first round, in the last fifteen minutes I went around the old lured holes, and they gave me four perches and a place in the middle of the table. And all this thanks to the use of small feed bloodworms as a nozzle!
But it happens that feeding with a bloodworm only harms: flocks of small perch gather on the holes, which does not allow catching other fish. If in competitions in our region this option often suits athletes – you can win by quantity, then an ordinary fisherman can drag a small thing to quickly get bored. You have to search for fish without feeding, and drill holes until you find a perch and roach of a decent size. In low-water reservoirs such a search is a serious test for the psyche. When the water is drilled, and there are no bites as there were none, I want to drop everything and leave! But if you have confidence in your abilities, the fish can still be found. Helps and fishing company. True, in the wilderness rarely manages to fish out more than two or three fish from one hole.
With the weakest bite, one or two holes most often work, and drilling ice around them at a distance of 3-5 m gives nothing. Here, it makes sense to drill extra holes in a meter and a half from the cool one. And then pick up a variant of the game with a little mormyshka or just put a fishing rod on the ice and catch it for a while on a stand: when fishing roaches, this can work well. One of my friends, having found a roach, puts three or five fishing rods in the manner of female girders and often catches quite successfully. Such fishing is unsportsmanlike, but if it does not peck differently, then there is nothing to be done. But personally, in any case, I prefer to catch the game. This is more dynamic, interesting, you can come up with a variety of game options and have fun. It is necessary to adapt to the fish, trying to understand what exactly in this reservoir it is now more to its taste.
Often when fishing for roach, small perch spoils everything: it attracts the game of mormyshka and it is ahead of the roach. And all the animation options start it, he briskly catches up with the bait and immediately hangs on the hook. And meanwhile, roach stands on the sidelines and is in no hurry to catch a bloodworm jerking on a hook. My friend and I found that if you put the mormyshka to the bottom, the small perch loses all interest in it, but the roach pecks on the motionless bait. It is amusing to purposefully induce different types of fish to bite: played with a mormyshka – caught a perch, put a fishing rod on the ice and waited – get a nod and another roach!
When fishing for both a stationary mormyshka and a game, it is important that the tackle is not too rough. A large bait adds extra weight to the bloodworm, and the roach can spit out a dangerous load. Therefore, with a weak bite of medium-sized fish, my choice is a mormyshka with a diameter of 2.5 mm on a fishing line of 0.07 mm, and if the fish is completely passive, I use a fishing line of 0.06 mm and a mormyshka with a diameter of 2 mm. But tackle on a career plays rather a secondary role. Proper search tactics are very important. Recently, I caught in a pond, where the fish preferred to stay on a flat bottom, avoiding underwater dumps and steep walls. Even knowing a few catching points did not allow us to quickly start productive fishing. I had to drill dozens of holes.
The perches were both at the border of the grass under the shore, and at great depths, they interfered with me everywhere, especially on lured holes! Roach up to 70 g pecked at a fixed nozzle at points remote from the shore from a depth of 3.5 m. In addition to roach and perch, it was possible to catch fish, rare for a closed reservoir, – dace. Despite the modest catch, he received a charge of good mood and a new topic for thought: how to seduce capricious roach and not feed arrogant small perch?
