Evening perch fishing

Evening perch fishingAs soon as the red disk of the sun began to disappear beyond the horizon, the still calm water suddenly exploded – perches went hunting. At the beginning of the season this is a fairly common occurrence. Catching perch at dawn is very exciting and exciting. It can continue after sunset, even when it gets dark. It was ten in the evening. I was about to leave and cut the cord, when suddenly the perch battle began. He tied the bait again and threw it directly into the cauldron – the perch was sitting on a hook. Then one more and more. Throwing on my bait, perches just went crazy. Often their dorsal fins dissecting water were visible above the surface. This madness continued until dark, but even then, when the cauldron broke up, the perches did not stop attacking the bait, however, strikes were heard less and less. In this short time I managed to catch more than fifty striped. It was possible to catch more, but I decided to stop there and went home.

After that incident, I had to catch perch on pre-sunset hours more than once. As a rule, perch at this time was caught much more actively than in the morning or afternoon, and large specimens came across more often. In addition to performance, entertainment attracts such fishing, because almost all bites take place in sight. Often, several fish go out for one bait at the same time. A couple of times two fish sat down on the lure at once – they were so passionate about hunting! This perch performance is remembered for a long time.

Time and place

The pre-sunset perch fight can be seen even now, in late May – early June, but more often in the second half of June, when the water warms up well. At the water bodies – ponds, quarries, lakes – at this time it is full of bathers and other lovers of water recreation, such as, for example, hydrocyclists, so unloved by fishermen. But it’s not so scary. Firstly, noisy campaigns do not scare a little or even at all, sometimes he even prefers to stay close to the beaches. Secondly, at the time when the evening perch hunt begins, most of the tourists go home – mosquitoes are noticeably activated in the evening. For this reason, we just need a reliable repellent, otherwise fishing will turn into feeding mosquitoes.

Where to look for perch in a pond? As I managed to note, the beach is one of those places where perch can go hunting. It is relatively shallow and the water warms up relatively quickly, so you should definitely not skip the beaches at the beginning of the season. Once, my friend and I were good at catching perch until dark right from under the swimmers. Of course, in such cases, in order to avoid conflicts, it is necessary to exercise maximum caution and prudence so that no curious person gets in the way of bait! At the ponds, I prefer to search for perch in the shallow headwater, although pre-sunset boilers are also in the pre-dam area, but still much less often.

When choosing bait, it should be borne in mind that even a perch is enough for almost any pre-sunset battle, but they have different “rate of fire”. So, I usually still prefer wobblers, although this is definitely the case when you need to experiment with different types of lures. Since fishing is mainly on the surface of the water and in the surface layer, shallow wobblers, mainly mine, light spinners, poppers, walkers and other toppers are suitable. By the way, sometimes you can observe such a picture. The perch is teeming on the very surface, but poppers and other surface baits do not attack: they can follow them to the very edge of the coast, but cannot be captured.

However, you only need to put some wobbler going an inch from the surface – an attack follows. This usually happens in those bodies of water where the perch generally responds poorly to the topwater, so you should keep this in mind. The lightest custodian works well, who manage to accurately remove perches from the boiler. On a light “pelagic” jig is also caught. When the water begins to calm down and perch blows become solitary and rare, it does not stop to be caught, but instead of near-surface baits, it is better to use those that go at about a meter depth. It was at such moments when the battle was quiet, I have come across the largest perches more than once.

Due to the fact that fishing takes place nevertheless in the dark, certain requirements are imposed on tackle. The most important thing is that the reel should not drop the loops, otherwise untangling the beard in the dark will ruin the whole fishing – precious time will be lost. Therefore, you just need a reel with even winding fishing line. I would not recommend using the thinnest cobwebs, because a perch in a pre-sunset fight does not pay any attention to the diameter of the braid, but inaccuracies of casting in the dark often end in hooks and loss of bait. Therefore, I usually put the cord no thinner than 0.13 mm.

And the last thing about equipment. Whenever possible, I release all perches that I catch, so I try to injure the fish as little as possible. Wobblers and other lures with two hooks, especially triple ones, are a very effective tool for killing perch. Therefore, hoping to let the fish go, use hooks without barbs or at least with pressed barbs. You can, of course, put single hooks instead of triple ones, but such re-equipment often affects the operation of wobblers, especially the smallest ones, unless, of course, the odnarniks are provided for by the manufacturer. With bezborodnyh hooks or mates, the number of gatherings is almost not increased, and perch is injured much less.
